S.T.O.P. Program & Homeowners Cleanup Program

Town of Oyster Bay residents are urged to bring all household and hazardous waste to one of the offered homeowners recycling programs such as the S.T.O.P. Collection days or a Homeowners Cleanup event. These programs are hosted at the Town of Oyster Bay Solid Waste Disposal Complex for your convenience.

Improperly disposing of products such as waste oil, oven cleaner, paint thinner, spot remover or photo chemicals may contaminate your own water supply. Long Island depends upon an underground aquifer system for its water supply. Anything poured on the ground or put into cesspools, storm drains, or recharge systems can work its way down into the aquifer or our harbors and bays.

Latex Paint, e-Waste, and Motor Oil can be dropped during regular operating hours.

ELECTRONIC WASTE RECYCLING PROGRAM

e-Waste Recycling is held on the same dates as the S.T.O.P. Program and Homeowners Cleanup.

The Town of Oyster Bay continues its leadership role in recycling by initiating the first regularly scheduled Electronic Waste Recycling program on Long Island. The program addresses the growing nationwide problem of e-waste, such as computers, cell phones, pagers and VCRs. These items not only have a low level of biodegradability, but they contain materials such as lead, mercury and cadmium that are highly toxic when released into the environment. This program ensures these items will not wind up in a landfill or incinerator.
