The Planning and Development Department is primarily concerned with land use and assists the Town Board in the orderly growth and development of the Town. The department is charged with the enforcement of all codes, rules and ordinances pertaining to building and zoning in unincorporated areas and supervises the issuance of permits for construction.

Abandoned Property – Zombie Home Program
The Oyster Bay Town Board believes in safeguarding property values and your suburban quality of life. The Town of Oyster Bay is one of the few municipalities with an active and successful Abandoned Property – Zombie Homes Program that seeks to remove eyesores from our community.
Zoning Board of Appeals
This division provides administrative services for the Town’s Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA). It is headed by the Secretary to the Zoning Board of Appeals, a full-time Town employee, who oversees a full-time staff that performs administrative functions for the ZBA.

Economic Development Division
The Division of Economic Development is responsible for coordinating and managing programs related to the development and improvement of commercial and industrial properties.
Commerce, Industry and Labor Division
The division serves as the initial contact for any business desiring to locate, relocate or expand in the Town.

FEMA Flood Maps
The Town of Oyster Bay is a participating community in the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), which enables property owners in designated Special Flood Hazard Areas (SFHA) within the Town of Oyster Bay to purchase insurance protection against losses from flooding. NFIP is administered by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) within the United States Department of Homeland Security. FEMA and its partners develop and provide flood hazard data and maps in support of NFIP. FEMA is currently in the process of updating the maps.
